Here’s some images from the second Lab session, Type for the Non-Designer. Last semester I tossed out at a weekly office meeting, “Hey, what if we do a semesterly workshop series for students?” Everyone was on board, so I took the idea and ran with it. Each session is planned and lead by 2 or 3 of our staff, and attended by 10-15 students. I came up with a fun icon system and color palettes that rotates with each session. Each semester we’ll change up some or all of the topics so that students have yet another option for learning outside the classroom on campus!

How to make your tofu tasty, AKA Jen’s stir fry sauce recipe:

Note: you may need to double this if you plan on marinading tofu in it and using it for your stirfry.

1.5 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari, whatever you have on hand
1 tablespoon sriracha (if you’re saying that’s a lot, please note: YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH SRIRACHA)
~1 tablespoon rice vinegar
splash of lime juice
1 large clove of garlic, grated (or a couple small ones, add as much as you please really)
~1 teaspoon ginger powder (feeling fancy? grate some fresh)
sesame seeds (feeling fancy? toast those suckers)

I taste it at this point, see if it needs more oil or vinegar, add as needed. If you marinade your tofu in this, and pan fry the tofu until it is very golden (past the point you think its done) on either side, people will adore you. Promise.

Time to put together a summer shindig — Bill Murray’s been tooling around the U.S. crashing every party he can find.

Known to pop up in the unlikeliest karaoke bars and house parties in New York City, he “is looking to take a vacation around the United States,” his rep announced last month. “He’s hoping that if he shows up to your party with a bottle of wine or vegetable tray, you will be able to make the proper accommodations for him. This includes allowing him to sleep on your couch or in a spare bedroom.”
